Rohul Amin
Reporting Officer
My name is Rohul Amin, originally from Haish Shurata (Aa Lay Than Kyaw) village in northern Maungdaw, Myanmar. As a Grade 10 student, I dreamed of passing my matriculation exam, going to university, and becoming a teacher so I could provide education to children in rural areas where schools and opportunities were scarce.
Those dreams were interrupted when the Myanmar military’s genocide forced my family and me to flee to Bangladesh. Today, I live in Refugee Camp 14, where life remains filled with challenges, especially the lack of higher education. Yet, I continue to pursue my passion for teaching by serving as a volunteer primary teacher with COAST Foundation, guiding Rohingya children who deserve the chance to learn. In addition to teaching, I work actively in community awareness programs on gender-based violence, child marriage, child labor, seasonal health, women’s empowerment, and girls’ education. I also serve as a CEC/Board Member of Rohingya Students Unity for Rights (RSUR), a civil society organization committed to education and youth empowerment.
Though my dream of becoming a professional teacher remains unfulfilled, I feel proud to dedicate my life to uplifting the Rohingya community, especially its youth and women, through education and awareness.
